PROCESS ENGINEERING INTERN
The Appleton Plant is seeking an intern pursuing a degree in Paper Science Engineering, Bio-based Products Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering programs to support the Appleton Plant team. We are looking for a full-time student or a student has a recently graduated. The student must be available to work the remainder of the summer through the fall semester, ending in January 2009.
Appleton interns are actively involved in the day-to-day operations of an off machine coating and converting facility as a process engineer. You will work directly with and be mentored by existing process engineers or managers in the manufacturing plant. Students are expected to possess a high level of motivation, initiative and the ability to work independently. Participation in project work, daily duties, production meetings, and trials are expected. It is common for interns to work some late days, nights, weekends and approximately 40-60 hours per week in our 24/7 facility.

We provide projects with a high level of responsibility and have an impact on our bottom line. Students work with cutting edge coating formulation chemistry and have access to extensive R&T resources.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Provide manufacturing support on new products and processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve processing issues.
• Recommend and implement new product lines and processes.
• Recommend and implement changes to existing product line and processes.
• Maximize efficiencies and yields while maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Interface with customers to resolve complaints and understand and meet their needs.
• Interface with product development professionals to assist in transition from solution development to launch and beyond.
• Provide support to engineering during equipment installation and startup.
• Work with manufacturing systems manager and plant personnel to ensure a safe, high quality and efficient production environment.
• Identify opportunities for product, equipment, and process improvements.
