Political Intern
POSITION AVAILABLE: January 2010 REPORTS TO: Political Director HOURS: 10-15 hours per week, flexible scheduling Monday-Friday between 10am and 6pm COMPENSATION: This position is unpaid. NARAL Pro-Choice New York will help secure academic credit if applicable. SUMMARY: NARAL Pro-Choice New York’s advocacy department works on the political, legislative and community levels to protect safe, legal abortion and to expand the full range of reproductive rights for all women. The Political Intern will primarily provide support around our efforts to prepare for the fall 2010 election. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Work with Political Director to prepare for the 2010 state- and federal-level elections in New York. • Research information on state and federal candidates. • Facilitate process of sending out candidate questionnaires, then contacting campaigns to follow up. • Maintain Excel database of information. • Assist staff in developing candidate education materials, including research and writing. • Help Community Organizer with ongoing advocacy and organizing activities, as necessary.
