I go to a community college in a city. How can I find college internships?

The same way you do at any college — your adviser, your department, and your college’s internship/cooperative work experience office.

Your adviser, whether it be a professor in your program or someone from the college’s advising/counseling center, should be your first stop. They will know you, your interest, and your strengths and weaknesses better than anyone. Your department will know about specific opportunities and also be able to take advantage of established relationships with community placement sites. And your internships office — it may be called something different, of course — will have a wide variety of resources available, usually including a directory of local offices and organizations that look for interns.

You can also use websites like FastWeb.com to find internships, or you can visit the websites of local offices/organizations you have interest in and see if they have an internships page in their employment section. (I found my first college internships by reading the “help wanted” ads in my local newspaper.) Internship placement sites aren’t going to discount you because you attend a community college, so don’t worry about that. Good luck.
