Community college jobs — am I a good fit?
Question by weirdiscomplimentary: Community college jobs — am I a good fit?
I am interested in applying for a job at a community college. I meet all the minimum and “preferred” qualifications. (Master’s degree, teaching experience in k-12 settings, interests that match the department)
But I’m only 25 years old — and I look even younger. And I’ve never taught adults before.
With the job market so tight, is it enough to meet the minimum and preferred requirements? Or should I expect that the job will go to someone who has actually taught in a community college rather than someone who is trying to break into the field?

Won’t know until you apply. While the job market is tight, community colleges are getting more and more student applicants, so there may be an increased need for teachers.
Just detail why you think you’d be a good instructor for the particular classes that they’re advertising needing an instructor for.
