Question by Rico: Are college internships a waste of time?
I am currently doing an internship at UBS and all I do is coppy and fax. I understand they don’t want to put the effort in to train me cause I am gone after two months, but do schools put too much emphasis on internships?

No they don’t. And even high powered people file and fax. Maintain a good attitude even if you think the duties are beneath you. You don’t know who is watching you, and if you have a crappy attitude you better believe that employer will remember that.

Internships can give you a foot in the door to a company good for your career. Hopefully you get exposure to more “meat” while you are there, but sometimes you don’t. Have you asked them if you could sit in on a meeting or work on a project?
