Question by xoxo: What would look better on a college application: an internship or a job?
I am a high school student currently in an internship that focuses on my future career in business. Colleges want job experience, but I don’t think I could find a job that focuses on business like this internship does. Should I find a job or stick with the internship? What will colleges prefer?

Internship. For college applications, it counts as job experience.

An internship looks better if it is indeed directly related to your future career, and an internship is a job, just usually it is unpaid; the experience you gain is your reward for performing the job.

Definitely stick with the internship! If you are in an internship ALREADY when you are in high school, that is even better.
Colleges want to see you doing something meaningful towards your degree/college/future. They much rather see you doing this internship focusing on what you may want to pursue in the future, rather than quiting and getting a job. Internships are not always paid, and I know that can be frustrating, but the money will come over time. Take the time to learn at your internship and gain new skills, before quiting and moving on to a job.
Stick with the internship until you go to college, if you are going out of state or far away. But, if you are in school right near your internship, maybe see if you can stay and work at the same time. Alot of times, colleges will even give you college credit towards that internship if it is going towards your major. PLUS, a HUGE thing is…places that are looking for or have interns…are most likely molding you into the person which they would like to have work for you. Think of it as your BIG/LONG interview. Most places that are looking for or have interns are looking to hire you if you do the job to their liking. Keep that in mind.
So, I would definitely stick with the internship. Most likely, if you do a good job…that internship will turn INTO a job. Colleges like to see consistency. So, stick with it
