Question by hmmm: If you got a petty larceny and assault conviction when you were 19, will it be hard to get internships/jobs?
They both happened at the same time, and are the only offenses (both are misdemeanors). Will it be hard to get internships/jobs 3 years later in accounting fields?

depends on the background check that the employer conducts. many may not even detect the conviction

Some states have laws that prohibit discrimination against candidates with arrest and/or conviction records, at least if they do not directly impact the job in question. If you want to research that to see if it applies to your situation, Google “protected classes” and the name of your state.

You won’t be allowed to work around money unless the larceny conviction is expunged or pardoned, and that may not be possible in your state.
