Is an unpaid internship considered volunteer work or a job?
Question by metalikidd7: Is an unpaid internship considered volunteer work or a job?
I worked as an unpaid intern at New Line Cinema where I didn’t get any credits or monetary compensation. Since New Line Cinema is not a non-profit company I was wondering if my service would be considered a job or volunteer work. thanks

This position can be either. How ever you want state it on your resume, it is both to your benefit. Do you see it more feasible to list it as a job? Not a problem. Do so. Because volunteering is a job.

Your internship is job training and most of the time without pay. It could be considered volunteering with one exception is that internship you will be asked to preform duties that a paid employee would do, where as a volunteer would not be asked to do those same things but would do simpler tasks. Just because is not a non profit does not mean you cannot volunteer for the or do internship for them. Big Corporation may have customer greeters or assistants that are also volunteers.

It is not a job if it’s unpaid. That’s volunteer

I would consider your case a volunteer position since you were not paid and did not receive any credit.
