Type of Student: Undergraduate/Graduate Student Description: The Greater Washington Heart Walk is the American Heart Association"s mission in action. This annual celebration promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun, family environment. As the signature fundraising event, the Greater Washington Heart Walk is expected to raise $2,500,000 for the American Heart Association"s life-saving mission. Internship will include the following professional development opportunities: ? Project Management: Intern will be responsible for assisting the Heart Walk Team with day to day tasks and work closely with the Special Event Administrator to plan a successful DC Heart Walk. Example project includes recruiting Miracle Mile entertainment and help promote this new Heart Walk feature. The Miracle Mile is an opportunity for those who are affected by Heart Disease and Stroke to participate at the Heart Walk by walking an entertainment filled mile at their own pace. ? Volunteer Management: Assist participants with fundraising through the Heart Walk website. ? Procurement: Intern will assist in donation requests, in-kind donation solicitations, Heart Walk day of event logistics, marketing projects, and data management. ? Additional projects and responsibilities may be added as needed.
