Service-Learning Fellow

Children for Children (CFC), a leading NYC non-profit that promotes service-learning and hands-on youth volunteering programs that teach the value of civic engagement in children from all backgrounds, seeks fellows to provide technical assistance, support, and coaching to school sites that are currently implementing CFC’s programs. The fellowship will take place from October 2008-May 2009. These fellowships will offer a unique opportunity to gain insight in curricula development and lesson analysis as well as in-depth classroom and nonprofit experience. Responsibilities include: • Provide ongoing on- and off-site technical assistance to participating sites • Assist sites in implementing CFC initiatives through leadership, on-site coaching, and concrete feedback following site visits • Conduct assessment and evaluation of programs • Create and implement a system of quality improvement feedback with educators and staff (e.g., written evaluations, conference calls, memos, etc.) • Complete oral and written reports Ideal candidates would demonstrate: • Professionalism in varied work and educational environments • Ability to network and build alliances that further strategic objectives with donors, school sites and partner organizations • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail: ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities • Ability to travel off-site to provide technical assistance • Ability to interact with a variety of personalities • Ability to think independently and creatively • Willingness to work as part of a team, highly motivated • Strong leadership and team-building skills

STAND Intern Winter 2009 (January /February – March/April) Apply Immediately o Application Deadline: December 1 o You should receive notification by December 15 Genocide Intervention Network (GI-NET) is changing the way the United States and the international community responds to the worlds worst crime by empowering individuals and communities with the tools to prevent and stop genocide. GI-NET’s aim is to build the first permanent anti-genocide constituency. GI-NET seeks a highly motivated and independent college student or recent graduate to assist the staff with STAND initiatives. Start and end dates can be negotiated. The STAND intern will work with the STAND staff and Student Leadership Team and coordinate grassroots campaigns, develop materials and strategy, and manage logistics. Major Responsibilities • Developing materials and strategy for specific STAND campaigns • Coordinating campaign logistics with the STAND Leadership Team • Updating STAND’s website • Being the first response to student grassroots inquiries Interns receive $70 per month in SmartBenefits to cover local transportation costs. Lectures, panel discussions and other events are also frequently made available through allied organizations in the Darfur and anti-genocide movements.

The Operations Intern works with the Director of Operations and the Operations Manager to ensure financial, administrative and programmatic support within the Operations department. Major Responsibilities • Assist with the logistical and administrative aspects of the office: overseeing general office maintenance including ordering office supplies; answering general email inquiries from the jobs and internship mailboxes • Posting job announcements • Read and route incoming applications from volunteers, interns and prospective employees • Produce instructional materials for staff and interns Other duties may be assigned throughout the internship depending on department needs and priorities.
