Question by SadWoman: How would I go about finding an internship in Real Estate Appraisal or Community Development?
I have an interest in Real Estate Appraisal and Community Development, and wanted to know how I can find an internship or some entry level position in the field. Have any ideas?
I am currently finishing up a BS in Political Science with a minor in Urban and Regional Analysis and Pan-African Studies. I don’t know if that helps or not. Thanks.

Check the employment opportunities listings for all public entities in your area: city, county, state, sewer district, water district, school district etc. They sometimes have entry level positions, but they also list the employment qualifications. If you don’t have them, then at least you now have a check list for what is needed.
Get catalogs for your local Adult Education and Community College. See what related courses are offered. Sign up for a basic course. You have to start somewhere.
Are appraisers licensed in your state? If so, check with the licensing agency about educational and experience requirements.
Make a list and start to build your experience, education, and overall knowledge of what it takes to be successful in the field.
Good luck.
