Paid Internships

Question by roar: What kind of jobs are there for english majors after college?
I really want to go to college and major in english, I’ve gotten acceptances to CUNY Hunter, Arcadia, Towson, York C. Penn, and many others…but my mom says she is not going to let me go to school for english because she doesn’t lead into many job opportunities. I would LOVE to be a book publisher. So what kind of jobs are there for english majors after college? And, are they in high demand? thanks in advance!

Professorship/academia, teaching, journalism, technical writing, marketing, copy-writing/advertising…there are a lot of avenues for an English graduate. You just got to show your desire and passion for studying English to your mother.

I have full 3.5 years internship experience with a company and the parent company has made me a job offer that is about the average market rate. What is the value of 3.5 years internship experience ?

Isn’t the point of the internship to move towards getting a job. You’ve been there 3.5 years and that’s a long time. I would low ball you too, thinking you probably don’t have anywhere else to go.

I need to find out what percentage of college students who tend to abuse drugs and alcohol manage to graduate college. I’ve looked through many sources, but I’ve found nothing. Help?

I really doubt you will find such a statistic. Because the students who do abuse that drop out, the statistic would be “poor academic Performance” and often when a student does not return, no one knows why they do not return.

im planning on moving to australia in september 2010 and i want an internship lined up for myself before i get out there… is now too soon to apply? and also, what are the chances of finding a paid internship?

I think now, would be okay. why not? You’ll probably have your place set for you. Better late than never.

Also, the chances of finding a paid internship is pretty low, I would think.
