Does Monster.com really work for finding internships for college students?

Question by Natalia: Does Monster.com really work for finding internships for college students?
I was thinking of dropping my resume on it…how good are the results, does anyone know through experience? Hypothetically, for a pretty fairly involved student, with a good GPA (dean’s list GPA) and at a big ten school? Hypothetically.

It’s OK, but you’ll get a lot of junk mail from the site, and you’ll be one in a million (literally). Try the career center at your college, and look for recruiting days (when the companys send representatives to campus). You should also apply directly to internship programs at companies that interest you.

I was hired as a contractor for a summer internship. Do I just pay all taxes in spring, or pay quarterly?

Question by KiKi0867: I was hired as a contractor for a summer internship. Do I just pay all taxes in spring, or pay quarterly?
I was hired as a summer intern and am being paid as a contractor. Do I just pay all my taxes in the Spring after filing for them? Or do I need to pay the government quarterly? (even though it is just a 3 month job, not ongoing) I do not want to have to pay penalties later because I didn’t know I needed to pay quarterly. And how do you pay quarterly? Do you claim those later on?

If your employer is withholding taxes (as he should be), you can wait until April 15th of next year to file. However, because you’ll likely fall below the minimum taxable income level, if you file sooner, you’ll get what was withheld back sooner. The choice is yours. The gov is happy to hold on to your money as long as you let it.
Now let’s say nothing is being withheld. As long as your total income falls below that taxable level (likely for a summer only job), you can wait to file until the 15th as well.

You’ll need to take art, math and computer courses. In college they will make you take all of those, plus media courses and some other things. I suggest you take art and math (highest levels you can get) in HS.

As for colleges, look for technical schools, like Rochester Institute of Technology, or Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Physics would be a good choice, there is chemistry involved, or you could major in one and minor in the other, or just double major.
