Paid Internships

Question by climber2: How to get an internship at a hospital? Or how to shadow a doctor?
I am a freshman in high school and I am very interested in getting an internship or job shadowing at a hospital or clinic to help my college apps and to give me some good experience in the medical field. I really want to become a doctor when I get older. Any advice or tips?

Shadowing a doctor is not a job. You contact a doctor and ask them if they would let you shadow them. This is usually a one day only thing.

Interns in the medical field are what first year residence students are called, so you cant do that.

What would be easiest for you to do is to become a volunteer at a hospital.

You wont be able to get a job at one until you graduate from high school. But after that if you really want some experience you could get trained and work as a cna while in college. Medical schools like CNAs

I am currently a high school senior and I dont want to go to college. So can anybody give me a list of good jobs that you do not need a college degree for? After I save up ,000 my friend and I are going to wrestling school to try to become pro wrestlers.

hah good luck w/ that wrestling career but if you only need 3 grand do landscaping over the summer you`ll build muscle and could most likely easily make that

For example, my major is business management. If I had a year of an internship how would that help me? Do people ever get paid for internships? I’m contemplating talking to the owner of a florist shop and seeing what I can do. Any suggestions of what I should tell them?

Internships are useful in college for two reasons:
1.) College classes rarely prepare you for the high level work that is asked of employees whom have higher education degrees, internships give you practical knowledge of the various machinations of business.
2.) It allows you to network with the business community, alot of times people whom intern out to a corporation are guaranteed a job with them after graduating.
Most times nowadays people do get paid roughly 10-12 an hour for internships, depending on the state. For an internship I would go to a larger corporation, local florist shops will only help you if you intend to open your own business upon graduating.

I’m interested in Graphic Design but I don’t have the money for college. I’d like to get an internship, but I don’t think I can afford to do a completely un-paid internship. And I’m not sure where to even go to ask about internships. I live in Louisville, KY. There aren’t a whole lot of internships that I can find available here. How would I go about getting one and could I ask for some type of pay? I’m self-taught basically and I don’t have a ton of confidence in my work, but it’s not like I’m drawing stick figures on the computer. I just compare my work to that of major professionals and don’t feel that great about it – but I’m not sure if it’s good enough for the average job and I’d be just fine. Can anyone offer any help or advice?

Apply to a local community college that has classes or programs in graphic design. They are pretty cheap, and there are SEVERAL programs that can help you get loans for school. Talk to a loan advisor at the college first to see whats right for you. No matter what your situation or how much money you got, there is always opertunity, just don’t let it pass.

Federal and state governments offer internships as well as large companies. For federal jobs go to USAjobs. For state jobs just go to state website.
