Paid Internships

Question by : Would an unpaid Internship count as community service/hours?
I need 40 hours of community service for High School, so I was wondering, would an unpaid intership at a marketing firm count as community service? Or would I have to volunteer somewhere else?

It depends on your school. It probably won’t, but you *must* ask the people who make the rules.

The purpose of “community service” is to serve the community. A marketing firm merely serves the wallets of the owners and their clients. Unless they were marketing a charity…:)

I want a job that pays well but i am going to attend a communtity college im not sure fo what yet though. I will reocate from DC to Florida when I am ready to go to college so what are some well payng jobs.

Not all CCs offer the same programs obviously, but careers you can enter with 2-year degrees INCLUDE:

nursing
paralegal
radiology tech
medical records
dental hygienist
nuclear medicine technologist
diagnostic medical sonographer
engineering technician
computer specialist

Question by Curious: I’m an international student in the US. How much is net tax if I get K during my summer internship in NH?
How much tax will be taken out of my pay (and how much can I potentially get as refund) for my salary if I worked during the summer in the state of NH. Note that I have never worked in the US and won’t be working much else this year aside from the summer internship.

I worked as an unpaid intern at New Line Cinema where I didn’t get any credits or monetary compensation. Since New Line Cinema is not a non-profit company I was wondering if my service would be considered a job or volunteer work. thanks

This position can be either. How ever you want state it on your resume, it is both to your benefit. Do you see it more feasible to list it as a job? Not a problem. Do so. Because volunteering is a job.
