I am studying to become an A+ certified technician. Usually you need a prep course to pass the examination but there are FREE materials on the web.

Help, Anyone know of any internships for a high school student that will be going to college in the fall?

Question by Tari17: Help, Anyone know of any internships for a high school student that will be going to college in the fall?
Help, I am really trying to find an internship, preferably in the Houston, Texas area? I am a hard worker, intelligent, and very dedicated. I would prefer a paid internship this summer because I know the value of internships over other jobs. Also, are there any helpful websites to find internships? Any employers needing an intern in Houston, Texas or any where close by? Thanks, I appreciate any feedback.

Most internships are for college juniors and seniors. Some allow freshman and sophomore interns. As far as a student who hasn’t earned any college credits yet, I doubt you’ll find one the traditional way. What exactly are you planning on majoring in? Send me a message and I’ll try to give you a little advice on a route to go. But it involves you going directly to an employer and “selling” yourself to them by explaining your situation and how eager you are to gain experience. You will more than likely end up with an unpaid internship considering your situation, but it never helps to try. Unpaid experience is better than no experience at all, because employers nowadays expect college graduates to have experience.

Where can I find jobs for college students?

Question by YO: Where can I find jobs for college students?
Im currently a college student trying to find a part-time job.
Know any resourceful websites I would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks

snagajob.com has grunt-work jobs but your best bet is actually two things: Local newspaper(not the online version) or through word of mouth.
College students tend to find part-time jobs on their own, not through websites. Websites are absolutely bombarded with resumes now…your best bet is to get on your feet and walk around.
Good luck.

Is it more important to pursue a lot of internships or have a practical major?

Question by lepetitdejeuner: Is it more important to pursue a lot of internships or have a practical major?
I’m ambivalent about whether to pursue a lot of internships and study abroad or pursue a French degree. I can’t do both. If I do the internships & study abroad, I may need to pursue a social science or communications degree. The problem is, I love French and I want to pursue it, but I’ll have to give up the internships. Which sounds more important?

if you know what to say in an interview you major isn’t an issue. and i think experience will be more beneficial than a concentration. you have to show that you can do the work not just understand the concepts.
