Question by lyss: How to apply for internships with poor academic transcript?
I am starting to apply for summer internships, some of which ask for an academic transcript. Unfortunately, during my sophomore year, I was on academic probation for the first semester and just missed it second semester. I want to explain the poor academic performance somewhere in my application packet, but do not know where to do so. Some websites say to include it in the additional statement, but this particular application does not ask for one. What should I do?

You should be including a cover letter and resume with your applications most likely. In your cover letter I would mention it. Also, don’t make many excuses, unless there is a good one. Instead, try and focus on important extracurriculars you were involved in, projects that you worked on, and examples of leadership. To many potential employers, examples of good communication and leadership is much more important than knowing that you can study for a test.

I’m 19 and in college but have few credits. College seems so long, the path to graduation and getting a job seems unpredictable and unreal. I want to join the army b/c i know they will teach me discipline and all that, but do they really offer high paying and steady jobs that i wont regret after i join.

I’m 18 and will be starting college in 2 weeks, my friends are starting college as well and they work at fast food restaurants, retail stores, and etc and they are barely making it.

What are some good jobs, I already tried UPS (waiting for them to call me)..But what are some other good HIGH PAYING JOBS.

I am a 19 Y.O full time college student. I have always been interested in working for a hospital doing administrative work or something. I only have a high school diploma. Only problem is most of the job opprotunites seem to be from 9 to 5pm(full time) and I need a part time job from 1pm to 8pm or something. Cause I go to class in the morning.

Also please don’t say grocery store or being a waitress. Those jobs r terrible!!!!

There are MANY ways to make money online….if you have a reliable level of expertise, I’d register at one of the many freelancing websites to bring in some extra money. That is what I do and make an additional 1k a month or so employed from home. In hard economic period of time, you have to think out the box. Try a internet site like the one below…it’s a beginning

The University of Dreams is an internship placement program that has programs in cities around the world. All internships include room & board, transportation to and from work, weekly seminars, and weekend activities – it’s a great program! I was placed in Los Angeles last summer and had an amazing experience. It may be a little pricier than you are looking for, but it’s worth looking into.
